SEEKING PERFORMERS
Both roles may be played by a cisgender woman, transgender woman, or non-binary performer of any age, ability or background.
Both roles require performers with EXCELLENT memorization skills, as each will be required to learn multiple monologues.
Seeking performers who are comfortable leading groups of at least 10 attendee-participants in a reading of the full play text. These two-person teams will serve as both performers and ushers/stage management/directors at each unique performance in unconventional spaces.
Multiple performers will be cast in each role listed below, and pairings will be made in different configurations for traveling performances as individuals’ schedules allow. Rehearsals will primarily be in the evenings over Zoom, with limited weekend workshops starting in early August. Performances will begin in August, with an open run based on performer and community interest and availability.
Performers will each be compensated with $50/performance, plus travel expenses for any performance more than 30 miles from Mirrorbox's home at 1200 Ellis Blvd. NW, Cedar Rapids.
The intent of this program is to create an immersive theatre experience that can be prepared and presented wherever and whenever needed. The timeline of performances is flexible, based on performer interest and availability and interest around the country. You may wish to commit to a weekend of performances in our immediate region, or you may want to consider adding this role to your repertoire and answering the call for a performance somewhere else in the country in the year(s) ahead. Mirrorbox looks forward to collaborating in such an expansive way, and learning through your experiences with the work.
